By 2040, over one-quarter of the United Kingdom’s population will be aged 65 and older. Younger dentists will encounter more older people with complex medical, physical, and cognitive conditions. Many older patients will have retained their teeth and heavily restored dentition, requiring maintenance. It’s important that these patients receive holistic care from suitably trained dental professionals, a mission that the British Society of Gerodontology is dedicated to.
Starting in September 2024, the British Society of Gerodontology will offer free membership to all final-year dental students, foundation dentists, and dental core trainees. Membership offers access to oral health resources, guidance, research grants, and prizes. A 10% discount will be available for the Winter and Spring conferences.
